Rural Iowa Summer Engagement

November 21, 2025

Lexie + Connor

Lexie and Connor met in high school through mutual friends. Connor asked Lexie to be his date to Senior Prom, and they began dating shortly afterwards. 8 1/2 years later, these two are tying the knot!

The Proposal

Lexie booked a photo session with Connor’s cousin to get some updated photos of the two of them with their dogs. Connor notoriously dislikes having his picture taken. (If I had $1 for every time I heard that… πŸ˜‚)

Despite his hesitation, they had a great session at his family’s farm. So, as they were finishing up, she probably expected to see relief on his face when she looked his way.

But when she looked over, he was down on one knee in the cornfield, asking her to be his wife. 😍 She said yes to him, and he, in turn, said yes to getting his photo taken many more times in the year to come by me. πŸ˜‚ πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

“He showed me that he was here to stay through all ups and downs.” – Lexie

Lexie & Connor’s Rural Iowa Summer Engagement Session

Lexie & Connor’s home is situated on acres of rolling farmland, which is absolutely picturesque. Definitely a photographer’s dream in a backyard.

As I’ve already mentioned, word on the street is that Connor hates photo sessions, but he did such a fantastic job. I’m starting to think that may just be a vicious rumor. πŸ˜…

Thankfully, the two wanted to have their dogs involved in some photos. So, I had the pleasure of meeting the boss of the house, Zoe, and her little sister Piper. Piper may be taller, but don’t get it twisted. Zoe may be a short Queen… still a Queen. 🐢 πŸ‘‘ 🐢

They both love to make use of the acres of land they live on by running off each evening and having their humans come fetch them in the side-by-side. Good times. πŸ˜‚

Lexie & Connor will eventually build a home on this land. So it was a really meaningful place to photograph them. Luckily, there are tons of shady trees, which helped us beat the heat [advisoryπŸ₯΅].

I knew I wanted to spend forever with my love when…

Lexie: “It was not an exact moment, just when he showed me that he was here to stay through all ups and downs.”

Connor: “I figured out she was a good cook, and she would take good care of me.”

Connor: “Enjoy working with the cattle.”

What is something totally different about the two of you?

Lexie: “I am super outgoing and can talk to anyone where Connor is a little more shy in the beginning and you have to pull him out of his shell.”

Connor: “Lexie is a planner and I am more go with the flow.”

What is a fun fact/something people might not guess about your fiancΓ©?

Lexie: “Connor is actually a really good singer. He would never sing in front of people but when it’s just us alone in the car he is the karaoke king.”

Connor: “She took a cattle backdrop photo with her calf the wrong way- will never let her live it down.”

What part of the wedding are you looking forward to most?

Lexie: “I am looking forward to just finally being able to marry my best friend, I’ve only been hinting at it a few years πŸ˜‰ and I just can’t wait to celebrate with our closest family and friends.”

Connor: “The reception.”

I can’t wait to spend tomorrow watching these two tie the knot at Midnight Farm in Maquoketa!
