Wisconsin Winter Engagement

Ava + Jagger

Ava and Jagger first met in Kindergarten, but it wasn’t until 8th grade that they really connected. Ava said that Jagger needed some help with his math assignment. She said, “One day we just started talking, and since then we haven’t stopped!”

Jagger remembers plenty of awkward flirting after baseball and softball games the summer after 8th grade. Then the two made it official Freshman year.

“He puts a smile on my face every day, and is so much fun to be around.” – Ava

Fast forward about 7 years, Ava woke up on a Saturday morning to a text from Jagger. The dinner date that he had planned for them was actually going to be an overnight stay. He surprised her with a night at the Hotel Julien.

After they checked in, Jagger suggested they go for a stroll at the nearby riverwalk. It had been the location of their first date, so they liked the area.

Ava said of the walk, “It was a beautiful fall evening, and when we got to the end of the walkway he popped the question! It was truly a full circle moment and one that I will absolutely remember for the rest of my life.”

Ava & Jagger’s Winter Wisconsin Engagement Session

We headed to Ava’s family land in Wisconsin for their engagement session. Mother nature gave us a beautiful snow covering and mild temps.

We absolutely loved the snow, however my Mom van did not. It got stuck in the most innocuous looking snow pile, and pile is being generous. It was fully stuck, though.

Shout out to Ava’s Dad and brother for coming to tow me out of there! Ava’s Dad said of the van, “She’s a pavement warrior.” Word. 😂 I assured him I’m a better photographer than I am a winter driver, though. 🙌

I knew I wanted to spend forever with my love when…

Ava: “He continued to support me again and again throughout our time together. He never wavered in his ability to communicate and be patient with me. He puts a smile on my face every day, and is so much fun to be around. When I am with him, he makes me feel special and like we can do anything together no matter how difficult.”

Jagger: “She drove in the middle of the night to stay overnight with me when I moved into my new house alone. I couldn’t sleep or get comfortable until she came.”

What is something you both have in common?

Ava: “We are both motivated individuals that strive to achieve success in any endeavor we put our minds to.”

Jagger: “We both analyze/overanalyze situations and decisions.”

What is something totally different about the two of you?

Ava: “Jagger is a much more relaxed person than I am. He does a better job of “going with the flow”. I am a planner by nature and typically need to know exactly what is happening and when it will happen. Therefore, we complement each other well!”

Jagger: “I am an outdoors man (I’m not afraid to get dirty). She is a fair weather goer (only precipitation she like is watching snow).”

What is a fun fact/something people might not guess about your fiancé?

Ava: “Jagger does a really good impression of Stitch (from Lilo and Stitch) but he hasn’t broken it out in a while lol!”

Jagger: “She is an avid reader, I mean finish a 700 page book in a night kind of reader.”

What part of the wedding are you looking forward to most?

Ava: “I can’t wait to walk into the church and see Jagger at the end of the aisle looking back at me. I feel like everything else will fall away at that point and it will only be me and him in the world.”

Jagger: “Watching her walk down the aisle.”

I am so excited to witness these two middle-school sweethearts tie the knot tomorrow, and celebrate at The Hotel Julien Dubuque!
