I met Jamie & Miles when they were in Lauren & Austin‘s wedding party last September. As I talked to Jamie briefly, she told me she could get loud & help me round people up for photos if I needed help. “That’s my kind of girl right there.” I thought to myself. So when she emailed me to inquire I knew exactly who she was & I was suuuper excited.
The Proposal
It was a typical Sunday. An at-home type of Sunday, working around the house & listening to music. Miles asked Jamie if he could play a song for her. Through the speakers she heard, “Greatest Love Story” by LANCO. Miles turned to her and told her how much he loved her and that he wanted to be with her forever. He got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife.
The ring that Miles proposed to Jamie with, was the same ring that Jamie’s late father had proposed to her Mom with. Jamie had always thought it would be amazing to have that ring. Miles spoke with her Mom & actually had the ring for 1.5 months before popping the question to Jamie. What an amazing gesture, what a timelessly beautiful ring, what a wonderful reminder of the love story between Jamie’s parents.
Jamie said the low-key and simple proposal described them perfectly. I can definitely see this in them after getting to know them a bit. They are down-to-earth people. I felt comfortable with them the instant I met them. These two are the kind of people that radiate a certain warmth. My favorite kind of people.

{3 words to describe Miles, by Jamie}
Big Hearted, Patient, Hardworking
I knew I wanted to spend forever with my love when…
Miles: “I realized that Jamie could make me laugh even when i wasn’t in a laughing kind of mood. She just always seems to know how to brighten my day.”
Jamie: “When I realized that there were no bad days with Miles. Things weren’t always easy but he was always there for me. He has made me so happy and brings out the best in me.”
What is something you both have in common?
Miles: “We are both hard working and like hanging out with friends and having a good time.”
Jamie: “We love music!”
What is something that’s totally different about the two of you?
Miles: “Jamie is more talkative whereas I am more quiet.”
Jamie: “I love shopping and Miles hates it.”
Jamie’s beautiful ring that I talked about earlier. If you scrolled past the story in the beginning, go back and read it. So amazing.
What is a fun fact/something people might not guess about your fiancé?
Miles: “Shes a good cook but a terrible driver.”
Uh-oh! Busted Jamie! I tip my hat to you though, because I am a terrible cook. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I failed at making pancakes last week… I’m 31. Whatcha gonna do, right?
I am so glad that Jamie suggested doing their engagement session at Miles’ family farm. It’s inspiring to shoot at a new location, and I loved all of the beautiful outdoor spots we were able to find. I’m always happy to shoot at places that have a personal connection to the couple. It really adds that second layer to the photos, another fond memory my couples can look back on the next time they visit that place or view their photos.
Tomorrow is the big day! Be sure to follow along on Instagram to see what we’re up to behind the scenes.
