Abbigail + Brendan
When Abbigail and Brendan met during their sophomore year at Iowa State University, they knew they had found something special in each other. Their first date was exactly four years ago today, and they will get married in just three days!

Brendan spent months designing Abbigail’s engagement ring around a stunning center stone. A sapphire in the light blue-green color that she loves. He said, “I wanted it to be everything she wanted and also have it last a lifetime.”
During a trip to Dubuque, they went for a stroll on the River Walk. At the end of the walk, Abbigail was surprised to see Brendan pull out tickets to Hamilton; it’s been a dream of hers to go.
However, the biggest surprise came when he said, “We can’t go unless you say yes to my next question and become my fiance.” That was an easy “yes,” Abbigail described it as “the best bribe ever.” Brendan had arranged for her parents, siblings, and Grandpa to get together for a celebratory brunch afterward.

Abbigail: “I can speak so honestly, and he tells me what I need to hear.
We watch the sunsets and drink either wine or Leinenkugel’s.
I come home to him, cleaning up the kitchen while listening to some country music.
We take a random trip on Saturday to a state park and a winery.
He stays up an extra 15 minutes to talk to me before falling asleep. We are early birds!”

Brendan: “We were riding the 4th Street Elevator, and I looked at her and thought “Wow, I’m going to marry this girl.”
What is something you both have in common?
Abbigail: “We both love learning more about the world we live in, the politics of today, the history of our nation, and the way we fit into our community/state/country/world.”
Brendan: “We both like to talk about the no-no topics (politics, religion, etc.)”
What is something totally different about the two of you?
Abbigail: “I would head towards a piano to write a song, and Brendan would head somewhere to build something with his hands (like a chair).”
Brendan: “She is a picky eater, and I’ll eat anything.”
What is a fun fact/something people might not guess about your fiancé?
Abbigail: “He has a birthmark on his neck that looks like a hickey. I thought it was a hickey when we first met. I took him home to my parents; they also thought it was a hickey.”
Brendan: “She’s a black belt in karate.”
I had so much fun getting to know these two during their engagement session! I can’t wait for their Dubuque wedding on Saturday at Steeple Square & The Millwork Event Center!
