Dubuque Library Engagement Session

Hannah + Connor

Hannah & Connor met at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, where they were both RAs. They instantly connected as friends and then became a couple.

After college, they both knew this relationship was one they wanted to hold onto. Hannah followed Connor to Minnesota for his work, and then Connor followed Hannah to Michigan, where she attended Michigan State University as a grad student. Once Hannah finished her Master’s [pause here for a “hell yes, Hannah!” 🎉🎉], the couple moved to Indianapolis.

“I knew I wanted to spend forever with him when I knew my life was better because he was in it.” – Hannah

Little did they know that in Indianapolis, they’d find the perfect addition to their little family — their puppy Amaya. They rescued this sweet Golden Retriever mix, which Hannah refers to as their “pride and joy.” Don’t worry; you’ll get to see her cute face later! No way she was getting left out of Mom and Dad’s engagement session!

The Proposal

The couple also bought a home together in Indianapolis, and Hannah asked her friend to take a few photos of them on closing day. She thought it would be a great way to share the news with family and friends.

Connor knew this was his chance to pop the question. On closing day, Connor hid the ring box in his sock. As they signed all of the papers, he was convinced someone would notice and say something.

Thankfully, no one noticed, and they made it to the front steps of their new home, keys in hand. As they took photos, Hannah’s friend told her to turn her back to Connor for one of the poses.

When she turned around again, Connor was on one knee and asked her to be his wife. She was shocked and replied, “nuh-uh, shut up, shut up, YES!”

Hannah + Connor’s winter engagement session at Carnegie-Stout Public Library in Dubuque, Iowa.

These two traveled to Iowa for their engagement photos. They considered getting married in a library, so the Dubuque library was the perfect spot to start their session. We finished the session with sunset at the Mines of Spain and tons of Amaya snuggles. Speaking of Amaya, she’s kind of famous; you can follow her on Instagram @AmayaThePupaya Now, let’s get to these photos! Make sure to slow your scroll to read a bit about Hannah & Connor’s love story.

I knew I wanted to spend forever with my love when…

Connor: “We spent large amounts of time together. Being together is easy, and fun, and we share a lot of interests and beliefs. My relationship with her is unlike relationships I have with other people.”

Hannah: “I felt loved and supported by his actions over a period of time. Connor and I were friends first and slowly became closer over time. He challenged me and was curious about my dreams and future. I knew I wanted to spend forever with him when I knew my life was better because he was in it.”

What is something you both have in common?

Connor: “We are both introverts, open-minded ideologically, and love our dog, movies, and sports.”

Hannah: “We’re both introverted homebodies who like having deep conversations about anything and everything.”

What is something that’s totally different about the two of you?

Connor: “I am more of a thinker and she is more of a feeler.”

Hannah: “Connor is more “left-brain” and I am more “right-brain”. We both look at the same situation with different lenses and I think that our unique perspectives are very complimentary of the other’s.”

What is a fun fact/something people might not guess about your fiancé?

Connor: “People wouldn’t guess that she can throw a spiral.”

Hannah: “He is ambidextrous and can play the piano!”

I’m so excited for Hannah and Connor’s Twosday wedding at Sisters Hill Inn in Montecello, IA!
