Dubuque Millwork District Engagement Session

September 4, 2021

Morgan + Jake

Morgan & Jake started as friends in their Freshman year of high school, and it didn’t take them long to realize there was something more there. They began dating in their Sophomore year.

“Morgz and I met in high school. We had a large group of friends and I always liked her the best.” – Jake

When they both went off to college, they assumed they’d take a break to have a “true experience”. But, as Morgan put it, “we texted every day and were back together by Halloween”.

“His attitude about life is incredible. He wakes up every morning in the best mood ever.” – Morgan

Now, 10+ years after they started dating as teenagers, they have a home together that they share with their furbaby, Billie. She is a beautiful husky with the most amazing eyes! She also dances and smiles for the camera. I tell no lies, keep scrolling and you’ll see!

Morgan + Jakes’s summer engagement session in the Millwork District in downtown Dubuque, Iowa.

What was originally going to be a sunset engagement session got rescheduled a handful of times due to heat advisories and thunderstorms. I think I speak for everyone when I say that a portrait session with a “real feel” temp of 100+ degrees and humidity at 80% is a no for me. 🙅‍♀️ Morgan suggested a morning session in the Millwork District, the stars aligned, the weather behaved, and it was gorgeous! We walked around downtown, danced on top of a parking garage, and we even got to spend a few minutes in Morgan & Jake’s backyard with Billie!

I knew I wanted to spend forever with my love when…

Morgan: “I realized how much of a positive influence he was on me. His attitude about life is incredible. He wakes up every morning in the best mood ever. I realized it would probably be forever when we tried to break up before college so we could have a true experience but we texted every day and were back together by Halloween.”

Jake: “I can’t remember one specific moment but Morgz reminds me every day why I want to spend forever with her. She is incredibly good at little things of a relationship.”

What is something that’s totally different about the two of you?

Morgan: “He is a night owl and I am a morning person!”

Jake: “Morgan needs to plan what she eats at restaurants. I am more of what sounds good in the moment kind of orderer.”
