Emily + Rob | Dubuque, Iowa Engagement

May 2, 2017

They had just gotten the keys to their new home. Emily walked around with their dog Remi, and let him explore a bit. As she started walking up the stairs she heard a song playing, it was Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers”. Her heart started to race. As she neared the top of the stairs she could see Rob down on one knee. He had set the scene with flowers and a photo of the two of them. With the ring in hand he popped the question. In Emily’s words, “I started crying and couldn’t stop saying “oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!” but eventually was able to say yes.”

That “yes” was followed by lots of planning, and this Saturday they will say, “I do.” surrounded by family & friends. Congratulations you two, and Happy Wedding Week!

{In Their Words}

  • {3 words to describe Rob, by Emily} charismatic, genuine, fun
  • {3 words to describe Emily, by Rob} witty, fun, (natural) beauty
  • I knew I wanted to spend forever with my love when…
    • Emily: “I fell in love with Rob in anatomy class! There was something about him that made my stomach tingle. He is hilarious and has made me laugh every day. The more I got to know Rob and his family, I saw that he came from the same background and was raised with the same morals as I. Rob and I work together so well, we balance each other out and there is never a dull moment.”
    • Rob: “I can’t think of a specific moment, but I would say we just grew together. I know what she is thinking and she knows what I’m thinking. Everything with her is just easy, and I think that’s what I love about her the most. “
  • What is something you both have in common?
    • Emily: “We are both very close to our family.”
    • Rob: “Our strange obsession with Tom Petty.”
  • What is something that’s totally different about the two of you?
    • Emily: “Rob is very go-go-go and I am more go with the flow, laid back.”
    • Rob: “Our pace… I cant sit still/she likes to slow things down. Which is a good thing.”
  • What is a fun fact/something people might not guess about your fiancé?
    • Emily: “He is obsessed with lawn-care. We will be driving down the street and he’ll point out or critique somebodys yard. He also hates wetnaps and when he gets hungry he gets very angry.”
