“When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody,
you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” – Nora Ephron
Dana & Derek had a classically gorgeous wedding in Dubuque. We started the day by capturing the bride’s finishing touches. She then did a first look with her Dad, while her Mom looked on. I really love the new tradition of brides having a first look with their father. Whenever I’ve had brides opt to do this, it’s been a special moment.
Dana & Derek then exchanged love letters, which is another thing I LOVE to see couples do on their wedding morning. I did this with my husband, and it’s a really fond memory from my wedding day.
The ceremony was at Hope Church, then we headed downtown to the Millwork District. The Hotel Julien reception was so perfectly decorated. Dana incorporated touches of white, glass, and sparkle, with purple uplighting. The toasts were so emotional and so were the first dances. When the dancing started the guests were tearing up the dance floor. Make sure you scroll all the way through to see what happens when Granny rides in on a “horse” at the end. Trust me, it doesn’t disappoint.
What an awesome day all around, which I felt so lucky to be a part of!
I included a few behind the scenes shots of myself, my second shooter Amanda McLeod, and the videographers from UV films! Each of my wedding collections includes a second shooter, and I love to work with videographers when my couples choose to hire them. Last but not least, a shot of me with the happy couple!! Congratulations Dana & Derek! It was so great getting to know you both! 🙂
